Lương Sơn Pass

The coast road from Nha Trang to Vĩnh Lương — mountain on one side, Nha Phu bay on the other

Why go to Lương Sơn Pass

  1. The best coast road near the city

  2. Nha Phu bay and the fish rafts seen from up on the pass

  3. Hammock cafés along the road — a proper road-trip break

Ride carefully — the pass is shared with lorries on Highway 1, so stop only at the proper pull-offs; between 6 and 8am there is little traffic and the best light.

About Lương Sơn Pass

Leave town north along Phạm Văn Đồng and the road starts climbing Lương Sơn pass — cliff on one side, and on the other the deep blue of Nha Phu bay with its fish rafts and scattered islets. This is the finest stretch of coast road within half an hour of the centre, and riders often run it first thing simply for the pleasure of the road.

There are a few pull-offs along the pass and hammock cafés looking straight down at the bay — order a coffee, lie in a hammock and listen to the sea wind; it is the road-trip kind of rest stop. The pass joins naturally with Hang Heo at its foot and the Vĩnh Lương seafood market to make a complete northern half-day.

A plate of gỏi cá mai
The dish to try · Since 1977

Come to Nha Trang without eating gỏi cá mai and the trip is not complete

One family, one recipe, nearly 50 years. Fish landed that morning, rolled in rice paper and dipped in a secret fish sauce — the same taste since 1977.
