Christ the King Cathedral — locals call it Nhà thờ Núi, the Mountain Church, or simply the Stone Church — was built by the French in 1928 on top of Hoàng Lân hill. It is Gothic throughout: a square bell tower, a rose window, and sombre grey blockwork you rarely see in a beach town.
The stone ramp climbing to the door is the best-loved photo spot in Nha Trang — rough walls, bougainvillea, and the streets spread out below. Late afternoon, when the light comes in low and gold across the stone, is when it photographs best.
