Why go to Long Sơn Pagoda

  1. The largest pagoda in Khánh Hòa, over a century old

  2. The 24 m white Buddha — a symbol of the city

  3. The best free city panorama near the centre

Dress modestly and keep quiet in the main hall. Politely wave off anyone selling incense or "tickets" on the steps — the pagoda is completely free.

About Long Sơn Pagoda

Long Sơn Pagoda — everyone here calls it the White Buddha pagoda — is the largest and most important temple in Khánh Hòa, built at the foot of Trại Thủy hill in the late 19th century. Climb the 152 stone steps, past the reclining Buddha, and you reach the great white seated Buddha, 24 m high and visible from half the city.

From the base of the statue Nha Trang opens out below: rooftops, the railway curving around the foot of the hill, and the sea to the east. Come early, right as the pagoda opens, and you get the quiet, the morning bell, and shade on the climb.

Come to Nha Trang without eating gỏi cá mai and the trip is not complete

One family, one recipe, nearly 50 years. Fish landed that morning, rolled in rice paper and dipped in a secret fish sauce — the same taste since 1977.
