The tour depends on the sea — book it early in your trip so you have a spare day; there is little shade on the island, so bring a wide-brimmed hat.
Hòn Nội is a swiftlet island managed by the Khánh Hoà Salanganes Nest company, which admits only a limited number of visitors a day, by tour. Its treasure is the double beach: a narrow spit of white sand joining two islands, with sea on both sides — calm on one, waves on the other — held to be the only double beach in Vietnam. The water is so clear that from the viewpoint on the hill you can pick out the coral below.
The all-in tour covers the boat, a seafood lunch with dishes made from bird's nest, and a visit to the nesting caves with an account of Khánh Hoà's century-old harvesting trade. The ninety steps up to the viewpoint, and the view down over the double beach, are the best photograph of the day.
